Ugh, this is confusing.
Alright, my latest project is a lap blanket/baby blanket out of the Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool that I have been buying a skien at a time [I know, there's plenty of yarns out there, but dangit, I like this one. It's strangely compelling to me. Maybe it's the neutral colors.] The project is inspired by the blanket of Miss Harlot [she's making a Log Cabin blanket] and BrooklynTweed's blanket. I'm like, "I'll make a middle garter square biased for interest, and then I'll make garter rectangles spiraling around it. It's brilliant brilliant brilliant I tell you! Genius!"
Sorry, I have a liking for Emperor's New Groove. *sweatdrop*
Anywho, the main difficulty for me is how many stitches I should pick up on the side. I think it is one per row, but then I have to frog back because it puckers the fabric and makes it look ugly. Two per row makes it a bit too baggy for the entire fabric, ergo more frogging.
The original pattern had four of the bias squares connected by strips, but it was a terrible disaster. Had to frog back most of the thing [no way I was going to call it a blanket] and keep the nicer looking square [the other one was so distorted; I didn't know what caused it]. Now I'm stuck on this problem. Drat.
Still, I'm not deterred. I will keep this up until I'm tired of it or until I get distracted with -- Oooh, shiney! *runs off*

That is what I hear from the folks after tonight's dessert.

Apple dumplings from the Pioneer Woman, a cooking blog that
rosesarered23 got me hooked on. Wonderful recipes with lots of wit and photos. I stumbled on this recipe and decided to make it tonight.
Mind you, Mom was in the kitchen making her own dinner and I was doing a 'lying by ommission' running commentary [I didn't mention they included two sticks of butter]. I already poured the sauce over and then I said, "Now for the kicker: one cup of Mountain Dew."
Mom: Hm?
I repeat the statement.
Mom: Oh? Let me have some also. I would like to have a cup.
Me: o.o?? O-kay...
Anywho, they came out fabulous. Mom thought they were too rich, and she was right. I mean, two sticks of butter? Paula Dean would be pleased.
I mean look at them!

Wait a tick, something is missing.

There we go.
