The eternal breakfast dilemma: Sweet or savory?

Ah, that is a dilemma. Either rich cherry crepes or omelette aux champignons. Honeyed pancakes or scrapple. Pandulce or barbacoa.

I usually go for sweetened tea. ;)

When times are tough or you're feeling down, what's the one food you can count on to make you feel better?

Either pudding or tea. Or chocolate. Or...

Today marks Cris's birthday, who is 21 once again.

What?

Anywho, she has to work. I'm here, wondering if the tea was too strong for my poor tired hands.

Hah!

Anywho, today is not bad. It's hot. I mean, in the mid-80's. Come on! My scarf and hat need an airing out! Sheesh.

Woke up rather early, much to my dismay, and sang the usual birthday song to Cris [we do this all of the time. hush]. Went out with mom and got some sweet bread for my breakfast:

Brewed up a pot of tea [black] and got the usual fixings: sugar, jam, butter, and bread. Had a nice breakfast.

And I knit!

One of the new colorways that Red Heart had, and I got a couple of skeins for a scarf and hat. It's a birthday gift to Sam, since his birthday's in a few weeks [If you're reading this, dude, act surprised when you get them].

I'm getting into the point of knitting while drinking tea. It's something interesting. And it wiles away the hours that I spend at home [the tea's getting cold *knitknitknit*].

So, hope everyone's alright. Nothing worrisome hopefully.

Although I don't know how to play one...

Anywho!

Today was...okay. Mom and Cris took me to breakfast and I did the daily Sudoku.

Afterwards we went to Hobby Lobby. While I was looking at the many many yarns they had [and the ones they didn't have {c'mon! I want sock yarn! I want superwash yarn!!}] and the oodles of needles they had [oooh, bamboo...wtf?! Eleven dollars for a set of 10 circs?!?], Mom and Cris went through the patterns and found plenty for the kids...and for the dog.

Yes. For the dog. Mom wants to put Odie in a costume/photo contest/shoot for Holloween. :|

Then we went grocery shopping for the party we had an hour ago: Mom let me choose what I wanted to have, and we found a devil of a deal for lasagna with salad and french bread, alongside with icecream, so it was all good.

Crashed in front of the comp, going through the emails and thanking the folks for the birthday wishes [*hugs for [info]unclebebby and [info]xlana*] and spent some hours there when Cris whisked me off to run on some bill-paying errands [spent half hour waiting in line!], then came back home and lounged while Mom, Cris, and Diana prepared dinner and made my birthday cake.

Then we had dinner and the cake. Also took photos. :D

Yes, photos... )

And now, I shall start on the Dobby Hat. Yay!

So my the youngest sis, along help with Mom and the other sis, made cute adorable bunny rabbit cupcakes for one of my nieces last night. A few pics of the products follow. [don't mind the dates on the pics, the camera fucked them up]

Bunny cupcakes!! )

Yesterday Mom and Cris took the kids to Wal-Mart. I came along for the ride.

While there, on the clearence rack, was a rather huge container of marshmellow fluff. In a classic white plastic container. Mentioned something called 'the fluffernutter': like a pb&j, but instead of jelly, it's fluff. Intrieged, I bought it.

Now, a few moments ago, I made one mini [one slice bread, half fluff, half 'butter, as to not replicate the bread&butter pickle sandwich incident(will mention later)]. Took a nibble and was surprised.

Oh god this is sheer comfort food! They mix so well, and the bread only adds to the textual goodness of it.

Yeah, I ate it all. A new thing that I like! Must make another one!

Earlier this evening, after dinner, Mom wondered how I liked the gift.

What gift? I asked.

She pointed to a pineapple that was on the other table.

oooOOooo!

Grabbed a knife and prepped the baby, thanks in help to one of Cris's friends, who works in a deli in Brownsville.

Anywho, it was good. Deliciously sweet and delectible. Terra didn't like it, but Danny wanted more and more.

The point of this story is the fact that the parts of my hand where I touched the pineapple are peeling.

I kid you not, my right index/thumb/middle fingers are shedding small layers of skin. And my left palm already shed, but it's freaked me out.

It might be that chemical in pineapple, the one that is used in tenderizing meat. Might be. :\

So, my other sister [Lisa] is here, very early I might add. Bringing doughnuts of all things!

But not just any doughnuts. Nononono, I'm talking about seven-inch suckers, some thickly coated in rich chocolate frosting. Frosting!! And, ohmygod, they are just so fucking good and delishious and ...

I'll get another one. I have to get that taste back!! *goes back to the kitchen*
